Currently Studying: James, Colossians, Christian Leadership, Job

James

The epistle James is one of the most practical books in the Bible. This course’s lessons encourage each class member to lead a more consistent, caring Christian life and to explore the practical application of faith in family and society.

1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus (Christian Leadership)

Christian Leadership emphasizes the essentials necessary for a church to be united and grounded in God’s truth. In these three letters to young pastors (1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus), Paul gave instructions for teaching sound doctrine, avoiding false teachers, and fostering an environment of spiritual health. Chronologically, 2 Timothy is the final letter Paul wrote. It offers a poignant picture of his vision, faith, and legacy.

Job

The book of Job addresses a millennia-old question: Why does a good God allow suffering? It explores the various theories people have offered in response to this troubling problem. Perhaps no other book of the Bible addresses such raw and vulnerable suffering. We learn from Job’s painfully honest example that it’s okay to struggle and question in times of great suffering and loss—provided we keep taking those questions to God and don’t lose faith in Him. We also gain wisdom on what to do and especially what not to do when those we love go through difficult times. Given the nature of Job’s themes, participants may be surprised by the encouragement they receive from this study.

Colossians

Colossians is a letter written to combat error in the church. Paul pointed the believers at Colossae to Jesus as the Head of His body, the church. Paul also told the Colossian believers that they had fullness in Christ. The questions in this course are thought provoking and challenging.
